Very honored to be listed in Newcity Magazine's 2024 Film 50 (“50 individuals or collaborators that have helped shape Chicago’s film scene”) again this year with Andrew Mausert-Mooney.

'“We’re filmmakers who, through our training, care very much about the formal aspects of movies,” Andrew Mausert-Mooney tells us of his teaming with Kera MacKenzie. (They may be best known for ACRE TV, an artist-made network for video, performances and experimental broadcasts.) “This formalism ironically has led us to cherish the filmmaking process as a powerful tool for building political clarity in ourselves and others. Our artistic collaboration has directed us to political work and study, and an understanding that our filmmaking practice works best when it is directed by political ideas. We have been making films together for twelve years and, individually, we have made films for nearly another decade beyond that. We make films and videos, both short and long, that agitate for the good fight and expose those that work against it.” Of the current Chicago scene, says MacKenzie, “The city is tough, funny and full of grace. We won’t predict what changes will occur, but in our corner of the Chicago film world, we are rooting for the tenacious people running microcinema projects, putting on rigorous political programming, and creating sharp films with deep commitments.” ' -RP
